Columbus State Community College

This program serves the purpose of providing students with the skills they need to become digital photographers in both Columbus and central Ohio areas. This program is designed to allow its graduates to take full advantage of the benefits of a college education, while building themselves a dedicated basis in a diverse selection of courses encompassing digital design, marketing, communications and Web design courses. Needs of the professional digital photography industry are reflected by multi-disciplinary digital integration. Advances in digital technology have changed the field of photography, forcing traditional film photographers to switch to digital, while allowing people from other fields into photography.

The curriculum of digital photography mainly revolves around digital capture, workflow, and image management. A major part of the curriculum is dedicated to digital photography, equipment and related software with further accompaniment by a coursework in digital design, web site design, interactive video/audio, and marketing/branding on the web allowing the students to strike a equilibrium in developing their technical and aesthetic skills.

Our goal is to promise students the opportunity in which they can step into the photography industry as photography assistants once they complete the Photography Certification. We strongly stress our objective which is for students to improve their artistic talent and skills utilizing traditional and digital cameras, advanced black and white and color photography, studio photography, lighting and tone control. Also included is a course on developing and managing a successful photography business.
