Prairie State College
A wide-ranging and stimulating photography program has already been established, with Prairie State College being one of only two colleges in the state offering these degrees. In the stimulating environment of our cutting edge facility, you'll learn professional techniques.
Studio and lab classes are offered to provide students with opportunities to focus on both commercial and expressive photography techniques, using a hands-on approach and cutting-edge technology. We offer an A.A.S. and certificates. With either option, you will experience fundamentals of photographic theory and have the ability to practice in camera, lighting and digital imaging techniques on a daily basis. We offer a 24-course curriculum that has traditional black-and-white photography and provides students with advanced experience in digital color production.
Associate of Applied Science degree:
There has never been a greater need for formal education in the photographic arts. It is now necessary for a graduate to be adept in both traditional film and digital ways of producing a photograph. Designed with practical application in mind, this program provides students with the experience necessary to apply their trade and grow creatively in their work. The program will challenge you to examine and express ideas using social, commercial, and creative visual problems. You can focus on print production, or studio production.
Career Certification:
This is a 31 hour-credit program that provides a technical and visual foundation with the use of photographic tools and methods that facilitate the students to communicate effectively with their cameras.
