Studying and practicing the visual communication principles of line, shape, form, value, pattern, color, texture, space, and composition will be required for a Photography Career Certificate. Students will learn about and study various problems and potentials of photography, including visual sequencing. Through practice exercises and required course assignments, students will engage in visual thinking and personal expression. There will be introductions to many artists' works throughout art and photography's history for the students. This program of study will cover techniques such as photographic composition, toning, flash printing, fiber paper printing, and photographic presentation.
To provide a broad-based education, the Fine Arts Career Certificates are designed. While earning the Career Certificate in Photography, students have the following opportunities:
- Setting up their own studios
- Selling their work in art galleries
- Freelance photographers
Some of the opportunities the certificate program offers students is possible internships and paid apprenticeships as a photo assistant or an actual work-experience in a museum, gallery, or design firm. Students who follow their career path at a secondary school can build their skills at teaching art.
