History of Antonelli College

Antonelli College is a renowned part of the visual arts community in Cincinnati, Ohio since 1947. It has held to the traditions of impeccable teaching in the fields of visual arts and business, and has presented students with the opportunity to develop their gifts and talents into professional skills.

Timeline:

  • 1947 Originally named the Gebhardt Art School came about. It carried the philosophy of creating the complete artist, based on the fundamentals of artistic ability.
  • Mid 1970s It became the Ohio Visual Art Institute.
  • 1982 It was christened Antonelli College.
  • 1990s The degree programs were added in office technology.
  • 2005 (January) Programs in the health information technology field as well as massage therapy were added to the curriculum.
  • 1996 Jackson and Hattiesburg, Mississippi were added as branches as we continued our commitment to quality career education.

Philosophy of Teaching

Antonelli College's main goal is to help each student develop to their full potential and become a highly qualified professional. Each training program offered by the College prepares a student for success by delivering a solid foundation of skills, knowledge, and training within the student's chosen profession We train our students for today's and tomorrow's business worlds.

Antonelli College has a teaching philosophy that combines both direct involvement and critical thinking. By direct involvement, we mean hands-on training and real-world education. Students become familiar with the tools and techniques they will use in their "real-world" careers. Critical thought means inquiring, analyzing and understanding ideas and processes thoroughly.

After graduation, students are able to apply these skills in a wide variety of situations. Antonelli College promises its students with the thirst for knowledge and practical skill application that they need to succeed.


Occupational Associate of Applied Business Degree in Photography

Photographs are being used to tell stories everyday, everywhere, from the cover of magazines to family portraits to news stories. We gaze at pictures of exotic beaches and snow-capped mountains, longing for the time when we can visit them. Such photographs communicate that which we cannot convey in words. Not many people can make such potent pictures. It is in these few that art and life come together when creativity and technique are combined.

Students of the Associate of Applied Business Degree in Photography are prepared for positions in professional photography with the ability to become successful business people and highly valued employees. Once they graduate, students will be ready to be hired for commercial advertising, portrait and wedding pictures, corporate promotion, photo labs, and digital imagery positions. As part of the program, students learn basic business and management skills that provides the essential for photographers who will eventually own their own business.

Career

Photographers will always be necessary, as people will continue to get married, have children, and be a part of families. Photographers and camera operators produce pictures that record an event, capture a mood, or tell a story by creatively using lighting, lenses, film, filters, and camera settings. Increasingly, photography involves digital cameras, computers, and the use of electronic memory instead of film negatives to produce and store images. Increasing opportunities in employment are anticipated during the next 10 years with success for people with formal training.
